On My Soapbox

For those of you that watched the Inauguration yesterday, I'd like to state that not all people from my home town are as ignorant as Joseph Lowery. I couldn't have been more embarrassed if he had led the crowd in a round of "Movin' On Up" from TV's "The Jeffersons." For those of you that missed it, here is an excerpt from his benediction.

"...we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right."
Because apparently, because of my skin color, I have been embracing wrong all of this time. And what kind of high strung Asian people has he been exposed too? Here's a quote for your Civil Righteousness.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
Hmm, how soon we forget, just one day after celebrating this historical figure, that it is YOU, Mr. Lowery, that can't see past the color of skin. It is YOU and people like you that have made an abomination of the ideals that your precious icon held true. Equality?!? That word doesn't exist in your prejudice vocabulary.
