Seasonal Haircuts

Tell me I'm not the only one who notices this. It still happens today, but it was more prominent in the 80's. In TV series, an actor will get a major haircut right before filming a new season. Usually this happens going from first season to second season, but sometimes it's between later seasons. It's not always just one actor in the show, and it's not always the main actor, but it always happens. If you are watching two episodes of the same show, and in one, an actors hair is shorter than in another one, you can bet money that one is from a later season.
